I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Go Steelers!) I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Slippery Rock University of PA and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from California University of PA. After being a substitute teacher for two years in an urban setting, I accepted a fifth grade position in Prince George's County, Maryland, where I taught low income, English Language Learners. It was in Maryland where my passion for education, science, curriculum development, and leadership took root through the professional development and application of trans-disciplinary, inquiry-based best practices in all content areas. The more I learned, the more I shared with my colleagues as I facilitated professional development at the school, district, and state level.
I decided to move to Colorado simply because I've always lived on the East Coast. Colorado is beautiful and it was time to begin a new chapter! I sought out a position at Swigert because the IB philosophy is aligned with my practice and philosophy of education. I am very excited to bring my background knowledge to the work that we do and to continue my path of being an effective and reflective practitioner and a life long learner. I can't wait to meet my students and to build our learning community together!
