Born in Colorado with a love of the outdoors, I have always enjoyed the kindness and spirit of fellow Coloradans and am so grateful to enjoy the gorgeous scenery of our state with such a lovely community and school as Swigert! I have always enjoyed reading, learning, and challenging myself.
When I learned most people dislike and/or fear public speaking, I decided to study communication, speech, and business at the University of Northern Colorado, where I graduated in 2003 with a B.A. I immediately began work in Washington state in a marketing position, where I had the privilege of enjoying another astoundingly beautiful state. During my time working in different aspects of the business world, I volunteered in my niece’s and nephew’s classrooms. There, I grew to love teaching. I decided to change career paths and pursue education. Back in Colorado, I earned my M.A. in Education from Metropolitan State University. After working with many grade levels and different schools throughout Denver and Douglas Counties, I had the fortune of becoming part of the Swigert community, where I have worked with the second graders for the past three years.
I love second grade, as the kids become more independent in their thoughts and actions by starting to own their learning and pursue their individual interests. I am looking forward to another fantastic year in Second grade and getting to know all of you!
