SWIGERT LITERACY NIGHT!
Wednesday, January 30th
6:00 – 7:00 PM
Please join us for a Literacy Night hosted by DPS Libraries and our own Swigert Literacy teachers!
DPS Libraries will provide an overview of their digital resources including their Overdrive ebook collection, Tumblebooks, and Unite for Literacy. Learn how to use Overdrive to access thousands of ebooks including diverse collections, read along titles, and audiobooks with professional narrators and high-quality audio production. Families can also use the Overdrive app on their mobile devices so that students can read books on the go or listen to audiobooks as a family. DPS Libraries is also proud to offer students and families access to age-appropriate databases that support research and college and career readiness.
Swigert Literacy teachers will also be on hand to help provide support and guidance to parents around supporting literacy at home. They’ll offer ideas on helping students choose the right book, how to help students conquer difficult words, dos and don’ts of reading support, and how to motivate your student to read. These sessions will be differentiated by grade levels.
Please let us know if you’ll be there!
