Tours and School Choice

Thanks for checking out our school!

Thank you so much for your interest in Swigert International School. We will begin tours earlier (end of September) this year because the DPS Choice timeline has moved up a month.

We offer tours on Wednesdays (9 & 10am), Fridays (8:30 and 9:30am) and a few Thursday evening options.

We will see the whole building and talk about all grades, including ECE4, on each tour. We do also offer a few ECE4 specific tours which spend a little more time down in the ECE rooms and do not go upstairs to see 2nd grade and above.

SchoolChoice Information

The DPS SchoolChoice Round 1 open enrollment window for the 2026-27 school year opens at 10 a.m. on December 2, 2025 and runs through January 20, 2026 at 4pm.

The DPS SchoolChoice open enrollment process is for any student who wants or needs to attend a new school for the following school year, particularly “transitioning” students (incoming kinder, sixth- and ninth-grade students).

Please note:

Here’s how it works:

  1. FIND information about DPS school options for your student. Use the mobile-friendly School Finder, read the Enrollment Guides (the 2026-67 Enrollment Guides will be available before Round 1) and contact schools directly for more information about their programs and culture.
  2. APPLY anytime between 10 a.m. on December 2, 2025 through January 20, 2026 at 4pm. by ranking your preferred schools using the online SchoolChoice application. Simply create an account or use your Parent Portal username and password.
  3. You will get your school placement in late February.

Check out our FAQ for a larger overview of the SchoolChoice process. If you need additional help or have questions, start by contacting the SchoolChoice hotline at 720-423-3493, emailing schoolchoice@dpsk12.org.

Round 2 SchoolChoice

Round 2 begins every year after families are notified of their Round 1 school placements. Round 2 is the first-come, first-served segment of SchoolChoice for families who missed Round 1, took part in Round 1 but want to re-explore their options, or are new to DPS for the next school year. Round 2 applications are available by accessing your SchoolChoice account. Find out more information about Round 2 HERE.

Applying for ECE-4 for 2025-26

Children who turn 4 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2025 are eligible for ECE-4 for the 2025-26 school year. Families must apply for ECE-4 by submitting both the Colorado Universal Preschool (UPK) application and the DPS SchoolChoice application. The matching process is based off of the ranked list submitted through UPK (not SchoolChoice). Due to limited space, enrollment is not guaranteed.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Submit a SchoolChoice application. Families applying for ECE-4 can submit an application any time before Aug. 29 at 4 p.m.
    • Note: If you already submitted a UPK application, or already received a school assignment through UPK, you still must submit a SchoolChoice application to apply for tuition assistance and finalize your placement.
  2. Wait to be offered a seat at a school. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis within school admission priorities. If the school has available space, your student will be offered a seat. If a waitlist exists, your student will be added to the list in date and time order within your given priority.
  3. If you’re applying for ECE-4, submit a UPK application once you have accepted a seat at a school. This application is required to receive funding through the Colorado Universal Preschool program.

Important note for students with IEPs: Families of students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from the DPS Department of Special Education who are applying for ECE-4 should contact Enrollment Services at 720-423-3493 or SchoolChoice@dpsk12.org for more information and next steps

Important ECE 4 Dates:

Feb. 3 – Deadline to submit a UPK application for Round 1.

Feb. 24 – Families who submitted a UPK application during Round 1 will be notified of matches.

March 3 – Deadline to submit a UPK application for Round 2.

March 24: Families are asked to accept or decline their matched provider by March 31.
