The Eagle Post – May 17th

Posted May 17, 2022

Dear Swigert Community,

Wow, it’s been a wonderful and uplifting l week for our Swigert Community.

We had an incredible day of  communal service on Friday.  Two of our fifth grade classes who were outside all afternoon made the obstacle course so much fun while also raising awareness for childhood cancer research – and raising over $1500 – amazing.  Second graders learned about Best Buddies International  Organization and made inclusive leaves and signs.  Kinder classes made 80 activity bags for children/siblings going through a medical crisis. Third grade decorated hundreds of grocery bags that will bring joy and smiles to families during their darkest days with There with Care and created blankets for kids at Children’s Hospital.  Our fourth  graders  made over 150 lunches for SOS and even delivered some on site. And our ECE students and first graders decorated grocery bags for Project Angelheart. Our Swigert school grounds even got spruced up thanks to 5th grade (outdoor learning space and summer vegetable garden), ECE(planted flowers), and first graders painted and added  rocks for our rock path.  All the little projects add up and the biggest joy was just seeing our school community come together to help others. Proud to be a Swigert Eagle!

It was  wonderful to see and connect with so many families at the Swigert Auction  on Saturday night. Thank you all for your incredibly generous support. We went over our goal!  Thank you, thank you, thank you! The funding allows us to continue our IB programing and staffing model that provides additional support for our students and staff. Huge shout out  and deep appreciation to  all that pitched in their time to help and especially  parents Molly Lacy and Amanda Jozsa for coordinating this special event.

Now, we’ve got our field day to get ready for on Thursday – please send your kids with tennis shoes, sunscreen and a water bottle. Thank you for your flexibility with switching to an earlier day, the weather was not cooperating for Friday and the water station didn’t sound too appealing.

Sincerely,Shelby Dennis

Medication Pick-Up

Dear Swigert Families,

Thank you for supporting The Denver Public Schools medication policy. Please make sure to pick up all medications used by your child on or before the last day of school. Colorado Guidelines state that medications are not permitted to be sent home with your child. If your child is participating in a summer program, their medication will not automatically be transferred to the site of the program. It is up to the parent/guardian to pick up the medication from the school and transport it to the summer program site.

*REMAINING MEDICATIONS WILL BE DESTROYED END OF DAY JUNE 3rd 2022.*

It has been a pleasure to work with you and your child this school year and I look forward to next year. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at hoang_tran@dpsk12.org.

Sincerely,

Hoang Tran
School Nurse
