The Eagle Post – June 7th

Posted June 7, 2022

Dear Swigert Community,

As you jump into summer, I just want you to be aware of some great ways to keep your students engaged in their learning! Engaging in great books, writing about summer adventures and doing daily math will help students keep their brains active throughout the summer weeks. You can start by signing up for our Swigert summer reading challenge! It’s a great way to keep kids excited about books and challenged to earn awesome prizes and raise money for our school at the same time! We already have close to 80 families participating. Ms. Krystie

As many of you may know, Ms. Krystie (Office Manager) has been struggling with her health for some time. On top of the medical bills she still has from the complete kidney failure she suffered nearly seven years ago, she has had Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism several times, starting in November and continuing on today. On top of that, she also tore the MCL of the same leg with the blood clots. She has a high-deductible plan, and her insurance has refused to cover some of the procedures her doctors deemed necessary. Any help she could get for the mounting medical bills would be of great help: https://www.gofundme.com/f/krystie-warlum?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

Due to the expiration of Federal Waivers that Nutrition Services has been operating under since the beginning of the pandemic, school lunches will no longer be free for all students in the 2022-23 school year. Lunch prices for 2022-23 will be as follows:

  • Elementary lunches: $2.60
  • Middle School lunches: $2.75
  • High School lunches: $3

Meal Benefits applications are very important so that students can qualify to receive subsidized meals. If you have questions, please email foodservices@dpsk12.org.
