The Eagle Post – August 23rd

Posted August 24, 2022

Dear Swigert Families,

We are off and running. It was wonderful to see so much joy yesterday and smiling faces.  I know it can be challenging to start with two half days.  The half days  provides important one on one time to assess our students to get a baseline data point and also a gradual start to the first week. Teachers are gathering beginning of year data points for math and reading. We will do writing prompts and ISTATION reading assessment in the first two weeks. Teachers will be sending home individual student information sheets at that time.

We will have our first full day on Wednesday. The two big shits to the schedule will be lunch and specials. You can either pack a lunch or have your child get hot lunch. Please see the details below for starting an account and for the lunch menu.

I imagine you will have some tired kids by the end of the week.

Events to put on  your calendar:

We would love to see you Saturday morning between 8:30-10:30 on the Swigert playground or our fourth annual welcome back breakfast. There will be delicious breakfast items, coffee and activities for the kids. It’s a nice way to meet new families and build community.

SwigertCommunityBreakast

We will host our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 8th from 5:30-7:00. Teachers will provide information about the year ahead, specialists will host information sessions and the school leadership team will go over important school wide programing.

Thank you for your partnership.

Sincerely,
Shelby Dennis

School Lunches

Beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, 8/23/22), students will have lunch at school. They can either bring a lunch from home or get a lunch from the cafeteria.

The breakfast and lunch menus can be viewed at schoolcafe.com.

Breakfasts remain free for all students.

Student lunches are $2.60.  You can fund your child’s account by cash or check by bringing to the office (please include your student’s full name and grade on the memo line or envelope) or by credit card through myschoolbucks, which is the same app we use for collecting money for field trips and other miscellaneous charges.

Because hunger is an impediment to learning, no child shall be denied a school meal because of an inability to pay. Children will be offered a school lunch that meets the United States Department of Agriculture nutrition standards for school meals and is the one offered to all other students.

Note: Families are required to pay any unpaid meal amounts accrued for lunches served to their childrenTo create a schoolbucks account, go to
 https://login.myschoolbucks.com/users/register/getsignup.action?login_hint=&clientID=schoolbucks

To apply for free or reduced price lunches, go to
https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Special Dietary Concerns:

If your child has dietary concerns (allergies/intolerances), please note that the cafeteria cannot offer an alternative without the attached Meal Modification Form (MMF). Having the allergy on file does not work for the cafeteria. The MMF must be filled out and signed by a doctor.
