The Eagle Post – March 14th

Posted March 14, 2023

Dear Swigert Families,

Spring has definitely arrived and our students are enjoying the warmer weather and spending more time outdoors. I have been reminded time and time again over the past few days  of our amazing community  support!   On Friday we had a crew of parent volunteers interviewing our fifth grade students for their Ameritowne Jobs.  They will travel to Ameritowne next week- About Young AmeriTowne – Young Americans Center (yacenter.org).   It was a great experience for students to prepare a cover letter and practice interview skills with an adult, sharing why they were the best candidate for the job and their unique qualifications.

From guest speakers,  classroom volunteers, garden crew to our parent committees – we are so grateful.  We had a crew of parent volunteers in the garden this morning clearing beds to prepare  our community garden for spring planting.  This is also a time when we look for new members to serve on our PTA and SAC committee for the 2023-204 school year.   Please see the information below.  Thank you all for your continued support, it means a great deal to our students and staff.

 2023-24 Class Placement
As a staff, we start the class placement process in May for the following school year, and there are many factors that we consider. Grade level teachers, administrators, and our mental health team work together to decide on the best placement for every child.  We know your child well, and consider things such as kids who might benefit from being in class together, kids who may need to be seperated, academic needs, and social/emotional needs.  We also try to balance classes as far as gender, diversity, etc. We ask that you please trust the process. We know your children well and we will very thoughtfully place them with whom we think is best. The school policy is that we do not take teacher requests from parents. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the admin team.

Auction
Hello wonderful Swigert community. As you’ve probably noticed, communications about this year’s school auction, Gaining Altitude: A Classic Colorado Affair  have started circulating and we are excited to say that the tickets are on sale NOW! Please follow the link to purchase your single, couple or table tickets now before they sell out. We will have music, food, drinks, a silent auction and a live auction. This is our largest fundraiser for supporting our school and IB program and will be an excellent opportunity to socialize with our parent and teacher community. As a new family last year, it was a great night of getting to know the parents of our kids’ friends and making some new friends of our own.

We hope to see you on Saturday, April 29th at the Upper Larimer Events Center!
