Dear Swigert Families,
At this time of year I am reminded to take stock of all I am thankful for and the blessings that surround me everyday. I am thankful for the joy and innate curiosity the students bring. I am thankful for working with such a dedicated, collaborative and inspiring staff. I am thankful to work in an innovation school and zone where we have the flexibility to create authentic learning experiences for our students. I am thankful for working with such supportive parents and families. Thank you for all your continued support and involvement, it means more than you know.
Today- our third grade students created warm weather kits for Zips4Kids today as part of the third grade weather unit.
I hope to see many of you at our events this week, including our third graders sharing their writing, fifth grade wax museum or our annual Thanksgiving lunch.
Sincerely,
Shelby Dennis

If your student rides the bus (morning and/or afternoon), please check in Parent Portal to see if your child(ren)’s information is correct. The bus stop, route, and times should all be populated. If only the stop is listed, you will not receive any updates, including route changes and delays.
If your information is missing or incorrect, please let the front office know so we can get it corrected. If you are receiving updates but your child doesn’t ride the bus, you can also let us know to have you removed from the notification list.
Hello Swigert families!
If you have any of the following recyclables, please consider saving them and bringing them to school for some future Swigert art projects. Your help is greatly appreciated!
-toilet paper tubes
-paper towel tubes
-thin cardboard, like from cereal boxes, etc. (easy to cut with scissors). Can be flattened for easier transport.
-old wrapping paper
I will have collection boxes in the art room. Thanks again!
~Lisa Carlson, art teacher

We’d also love donations of boxes of single packets of hot chocolate mix and bags of mini-marshmallows for Winterfest! You can drop them off in the main office or with Emily Pool!
In Central Park Education News (cpednews.org) this week read about the message voters sent to the DPS board in last week’s election. Will they hear it? Also, the DPS board may take up McAuliffe International’s long-delayed innovation plan at its meeting this Thursday.
Don’t forget to sign up for the nonprofit CPEdNews.org’s free Weekly News Roundup! CPEdNews is a project of the nonprofit Foundation for Sustainable Urban Communities.
