WHAT IS EXHIBITION?
Exhibition is the culminating project for all 5th graders in IB elementary schools. The ultimate goal of Exhibition is to inquire into something they are passionate about and then take action! Using the central idea of Inquiry Empowers Us To Act, they spend 6 weeks developing a complete IB unit around their topic. They research and then add these components to their unit:

  • Writing – Using the written word to show they’ve learned
  • Math – Sharing the statistics and figures around their topic in a fun and meaningful way
  • Reflection – Time to stop and think about the process of Exhibition
  • Artistic/Creative Expression – Showing what they’ve learned through a creative outlet
  • Action – Their chance to make a change
  • Presentation – Sharing what they’ve learned with their peers, family and school community

Here are ways some groups are engaging our school community and asking for help with their action portions of exhibition!

SCHOOLPOOL
Project by
Luke, Reese, and Aahana

This group is focused on pollution. As a great alternative to everyone driving to school, they are teaming up with Way to Go to offer Schoolpool, a safe carpool matching service. Schoolpool connects neighboring families who may be a good fit for driving, walking or biking to school together. Look for more details coming this week on how to get signed up!

FOOD/CLOTHING DRIVE
Project by Julian, Emmett, Blake, Amaniah, Neveah, Campbell, Greyson, Mariana, and Michael

They are starting a food drive for their exhibition project! The drive will start on May 8th and end on May 31st. All the contents will be donated to the Denver Rescue Mission.
We would like:

  • Non perishable food items
  • Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing (Note: underwear must be new and unopened)
  • Toiletries and hygiene products Donations would be appreciated!

There will be boxes designated in the front office area.

BOOKS FOR THE SUMMER
Project by: Teddy Baumann and Risa Greene

They are working on a project to help support immigrant children from Venezuela, now living in Denver. Their project will help supply 1st grade students at Ashley Elementary with Spanish books for the summer. Please consider helping support their fundraising efforts to purchase these books (see attached flyer for Venmo information).

Music Performance Day!

From Mrs. Baker! Calling all musicians! Any student is welcome to sing or play a song for their classmates during music class on these days. These optional performances are a great time for kids to play music for each other in a pressure-free environment.

Here is a more detailed schedule:

Thursday, May 30 (B day): Marijke, Page Edge, Kline

Monday, June 3 (D day): Marisol, Margulies, Capozza, Jones, Appleman

Donation Need

Do you have a vacuum that doesn’t work as perfectly for your home needs but might still be ok for us? We’d love to get at least one more vacuum in our office space, so let us know if you were going to donate yours and well take it. I promise it’s better than the one we have right now that doesn’t pick up much. 😉
