I am both proud and humbled to serve as the Principal at Swigert International School. I have been a part of the Swigert school community for over 8 years and love working with the dedicated students, staff and families. I was born in Irvine, California and did my undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley–go bears! I moved to Colorado 1997 to do my graduate studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Education Foundations and Social Policy. I worked as an education policy analyst for several years before entering the teaching profession, where I taught language arts and social studies for several years. I am passionate about early literacy I was trained as an elementary reading specialist. I taught reading for several years before diving into instructional coaching and leadership. I am incredibly dedicated to providing an inclusive, meaningful and diverse educational environment where all students are known and welcome. The IB programe at Swigert emphasizes and prioritizes student agency, critical thinking and an international focus where all cultures are valued.
I live in with my husband Kurt and two children, Kelsey (18) and Delaney (14). Kelsey is starting her freshman year at the University of Oregon- Go Ducks! – In my spare time, I love to spend time outside, gardening, trail running or hiking. If I could be anywhere, I would be near the water, and specifically at the beach in Soliman Bay, Mexico.
