I am both proud and humbled to serve as the principal at Swigert International School. I have been a part of the Swigert school community for six years and love working with the students, staff and families. I was born in Irvine, California and did my undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley–go bears! I moved to Colorado 1997 to do my graduate studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Education Foundations and Social Policy. I worked as an education policy analyst for several years before entering the teaching profession, where I taught language arts and social studies in for several years. I loved teaching middle school but my passion was in elementary literacy. I was trained as an elementary reading specialist and became a reading interventionist. I have almost twenty years of teaching, leadership and coaching experience. I live in with my husband Kurt and two children, Kelsey (13) and Delaney (9). In my spare time, I love to spend time outside, running, gardening, or hiking. If I could be anywhere, I would be near the water, and specifically at the beach in Tulum, Mexico.
