The Eagle Post – November 30th

Posted November 30, 2021

for eagle post

Good afternoon Swigert Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Break.  It was great to welcome students back on Monday.  Our Kinder students are studying history and there are time machines in each classroom actively bringing back items from the past- CD players, flip phones and typewriters to name a few. Our fifth grade students are currently studying the Holocaust and looking at how conflict creates change or leads to action. Our ECE students are finishing up their community unit with speakers coming in representing different community job; including firefighters and doctors. Today they had a special visit from the local fire department.

We have three full weeks of learning and engagement until our December Holiday Break. I want to highlight our art walk this week. Swigert Art Teacher, Ansley Delap, is hosting an open house for families of third, fourth and fifth grade students to view their students’ art work. We are using a sign up to ensure social distancing. Please sign up and attend with masks.  It’s so wonderful to see student artwork on the walls and read the artists’ statements- quite a talented crew!

Please use the sly reply below to sign up for a time.

DPS transition to GMAIL: Denver Public Schools is switching to gmail as the main webmail source for the district. Please email teachers and staff at their net address beginning December 6th.

For example- instead of Shelby_Dennis@dpsk12.org– use Shelby_Dennis@dpsk12.net.  Thank you for your patience as we transition to this new web service.Sincerely,

Shelby Dennis

PTA Corner

Swigert is included in Colorado Gives Day this year, on December 7th!!  This is a wonderful opportunity for businesses to donate to our school.  Please visit coloradogives.org to schedule your donation or make your donations on December 7th.  Many businesses will do matching through Colorado Gives Day donations, so please consider Swigert as you choose where to donate this year!

The PTA is excited to team up with a fellow Swigert mom of 3, Kerri Schoen who is offering a Workout and Donate event at her fitness studio TWST Fitness.  Please join Kerri on Thursday night December 16th.  There will be 2 class slots, 5:15pm and 6:15pm.  Each class is 45 minutes long.  TWST Fitness is a Lagree Method fitness studio.  We specialize in a core dynamic, full body workout on a specialized piece of equipment called the Megaformer to build a longer, leaner body.  The Lagree method focuses on developing short twitch muscle fibers.  We will move slowly and always keep good alignment during the practice of Lagree. Classes are 45 minutes with a cool down stretch incorporated.  Please wear sticky socks as we workout in bare feet.  If you don’t have any, we have them at the studio for purchase.  After the workout, enjoy a glass of Prosecco!  The studio is located at 2525 Geneva St. Unit 1 80010, it is on 25th just past the MCA baseball fields.

Kerri is donating half the proceeds back to Swigert.  $30 per reservation.  12 spots available for each class time.  Please visit www.TWSTFitness.com to learn more and to book your reservation!

Our next Dine and Donate event will be at Scratch Kitchen on Thursday, December 9th.  Visit www.scratchkitchen.com to place an order for pickup or delivery!  Don’t forget to mark your calendar!
I hope everyone enjoys the crazy month of December!  Thank you to everyone for all that you do for our Swigert Eagles.
