I love, love, love teaching third grade! I have taught everything from kindergarten to sixth grade and third grade is where the magic happens for me. Third graders are quirky and funny and just make my job not feel like work. I am originally from Arkansas and transplanted my whole crew (5 of us) in 2015.
I especially enjoy the running and hiking opportunities Denver and near-Denver have to offer. We love camping and fishing and just being outside whenever possible. So, while Arkansas is where my roots lie, part of my soul in in these Colorado Rocky Mountains. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. I am a licensed Gifted and Talented teacher and I am National Board Certified in Early/Middle Childhood Literacy. For me, teaching is my craft and I want to constantly improve my craft. Teaching at an IB school has been one of the best career choices I have made because it allows me autonomy to follow the lead of my students’ curiosities while teaching for deep conceptual understandings. I am so proud I get to be a Swigert Eagle!
