YAY for another fantastic year in 5th grade! I’ve been teaching 5th grade at Swigert since 2018 and I can’t wait to get to know my new students. I grew up in Wyoming and after a couple of years at the University of Wyoming, I moved to Denver in 2010. In 2013, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising from The Art Institute of Colorado. After working in product development for a few years, my heart pulled me to education. I became a substitute teacher for DPS in 2016 and really loved it. I figured that if I liked spending time with new students every day, I’d love having my own classroom. In 2017, I was accepted into the Boettcher Teacher Residency, which is an intensive one-year program that provides potential teachers the opportunity to obtain their teaching licenses through rigorous coursework and a year spent in the classroom with a mentor teacher. This experience really ignited my passion for education and I knew I had made the right choice by changing careers. In 2019, I earned my Master of Arts degree in Teaching Diverse Learners from the University of Northern Colorado. Outside of school, I love to travel, get outdoors, cook, take plenty of Peloton classes, play card or board games, read, and spend time with my husband, Brian, and our two cats.
