This will be my 11th year at Swigert International School and my 18th year as a teacher in Denver Public Schools. I love working at Swigert because of the community of students, staff, and families. This year I will continue in my position as a Senior Team Lead (STL). My STL position involves teaching literacy intervention and coaching/supporting many teachers throughout the school. As a teacher’s coach I support teams and individual teachers with developing strong lesson plans, instructional strategies, materials, and differentiation techniques. I also host professional development for the staff. Additionally, I work with a variety of stakeholders to prepare Winterfest, International Night, and provide cultural celebrations throughout the year. I am also the school literacy specialist and find great joy in supporting students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. I am trained in Orton Gillingham (OG), OG Advanced, Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars, Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing, Guided Reading, Jr. Great Books, Words Their Way, The Science of Reading, Cognitive Coaching, EL Achieve for Language Development, and IB. When not teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my son, Zeus, my step-daughter, Maebe, and my husband, Mr. Ziegler. My favorite activities are paddle boarding, snowshoeing, listening to records, gardening, camping, and traveling. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
